VOTE: Push to Lower Legal Drinking Age to 18
Its the request of about 100 college presidents across the U.S.
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Dozens of college presidents across the nation want lawmakers to lower the legal drinking age to 18. The thinking is by lowering it, students will drink less. USF officials haven't taken a stance on the issue. A spokesman for New College of Florida says underage drinking happens in society and habits are formed before kids come to college. The Sarasota based school is pro-active in promoting programs to better educate students about the dangers of heavy boozing. Some college kids say the change would eliminate a lot of secrecy, because a lot of minors have access to beer anyways. The folks at Mothers Against Drunk Driving, are obviously steaming mad at the proposal.
